Old house borer is
very useful insect for millions of years, because it helps to return dead wood
back to the nature and feed the ground with leavings. But last 10.000 years
seems to us not to be useful, because it destroys our wood property. Old house
borer is just one of the players in the nature balance cycle. |

Many houses
incorporate some timber in their construction. Since wood is an organic material
it can be a source of energy for other organisms such as insects and fungi,
which have adapted to feed upon it. The organisms, which live on wood in houses
generally, evolved in order to exploit fallen rotting trees on the forest floor,
and have simply infested timber in houses where similar conditions of damp,
darkness and still air exist. |
